MESSAGE FROM VICE CHANCELLOR
Greetings from Kishoreganj University! As the Vice Chancellor of Kishoreganj University, I feel incredibly honored and deeply responsible. As we keep moving forward in the realm of higher education, I am reminded every day of the enormous potential that this institution possesses—not only for this region, but for the broader academic and national landscape of Bangladesh.
Kishoreganj University was established as more than just another public university. In actuality, it was a noteworthy milestone in the effort to provide top-notch higher education directly to long-ignored regions. When we started our journey there were only four Departments — English, Mathematics, Accounting, and Computer Science & Engineering and we have been gradual and resolute since our academic journey began in 2021-2022.
Our long-term goal, which is part of a comprehensive master plan spanning 50 years, is both ambitious and completely achievable. With the help of specialized research centers and institutes, we hope to grow to 45 departments across six faculties over the next few decades. But more than its size or facilities, the university's essence lies in its people, its research, and its capacity to imagine a better future.
Kishoreganj University's mission goes far beyond merely replicating current models. We are committed to develop a distinctive identity of its own based on academic independence, research culture, and socially conscious education. Through education, research, and dialogue, we hope to engage academics and students in meaningful inquiry that promotes science, cultural enrichment, and sustainable development.
We are making a concerted effort to cultivate a robust research culture in order to achieve this. In addition to imparting already existing knowledge, we aim to generate new knowledge that speaks to regional issues and has an international impact. Plans are in motion to create top-notch labs, encourage interdisciplinary cooperation, and form alliances with esteemed organizations, intellectuals, and larger society outside the university premises.
The energy I observe in our faculty and students—their curiosity, their tenacity, and their drive to learn and lead—is what inspires me and gives me hope. They own this university. It belongs to all who believe in the transformative power of education. I firmly believe that we can unleash that transformative potential by fostering an environment on campus that values openness, inclusion, and critical engagement. We believe that education should not be just about imparting knowledge, but about fostering a sense of shared humanity among individuals. We believes that education has the power to bring about a more just and equitable society, where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
While there is no one way to achieve greatness, there is one thing that never changes: the need for dedicated, brave individuals who aren’t afraid to dream big and take action. Every aspect of this institution is shaped by the commitment of the faculty and staff. To our students, you are the heart of the university—you are its ‘promise’. Additionally, we are strengthened and sustained by the support of our partners and the larger community.
In my capacity as vice chancellor, I continue to welcome your thoughts, concerns, and aspirations for the university. My door will always be open, both literally and figuratively. Together, let’s proceed down this path with honesty, determination, and creativity. And let’s make sure that Kishoreganj University is renowned for the honesty, originality, and kindness of the people it educates, not just for its structures or degrees.
With all good wishes,
Professor Dr. Dilip Kumar Barua
